Start Up Week 2

I don't know how much longer I can keep up with 3 or 4 hours of cold weather outdoors manual labor. The bush axe yesterday has made me very sore. But, I should probably think of the burn as those extra calories from a Chicken Philly Sandwich burning off that I had for lunch - and the fries. Now that I think about it, extra walking is in my immediate future.

The First Week, about 40 more to go

Well, the first week is over. I started to not trust my scales, but they were sitting uneven. The first time I weighed today it was extremely off, but I had moved them since the last time I weighed.

Any way, I'm pretty sure they are accurate now because I got the same weight three times in a row. Since last Sunday when I weighed 358 pounds, I have dropped 7 pounds - down to 351. There is no way I will drop 7 pounds every week. I know from past dieting experience that in the first week you drop a considerable amount.

It was a surprise though. I guess it's due to my being more aware of what I eat and do - but my eating habits really hadn't changed much. I've spent several hours outside yesterday and today working, in an attempt to counter all of the weekend junk food. To make this weekend even more difficult, there have been two birthday parties that I went to. I learned today that swinging a bush axe is pretty good exercise, my arms and lower back are already sore.

Thanks for visiting,

Weekends are hard

It is hard to avoid junk food and stay active on the weekends. Friday evening through Sunday is time set aside for eating and bring lazy. Yesterday, Friday, I didn't do any physical activity at all. Food wise I did alright though - nothing really loaded with fat and sugar.

I'm back on track today. Spent about 3 hours working in our barn; sorting through a lot of old stuff and making room to store props and plants.

My plan was to only weigh once per week at the same time each week. But, I've already messed that up, I wanted to see if I had even lost any before my actual "for the record" weigh in tomorrow. I had lost. How much? I'm going to save that for tomorrow.

I will post my new weight and measurements tomorrow evening. Pictures are coming too - I hate having pictures made of myself. But the next time I have a background and studio lights up I will make a few.

The Master Plan

I started this so called diet on January 8. And only decided to blog about my progress yesterday. On Sunday, my weight was 358 pounds. I'm really uncomfortable about putting my weight on here, so I'll post it early before I chicken out.

That means that in 10 months I'll weigh 258 pounds. Wow, that's almost down to the weight limit on exercise equipment! My plan for losing this weight is simple and free - no gym memberships, no special meal plans, no disgusting shakes, no costs above what I would usually spend on food. That's right and this is no hoax (well I guess we'll see in 10 months), I'm simply going to eat healthier and be more active.

On the days when we've had Spring like weather this Winter, I've been working outside several hours every afternoon. Doing things like cleaning out our barn and building some outdoor portrait spots. Last night though, and tonight too, I have had to make other plans because of the weather.

As for meals, I haven't really limited myself. Mostly I'm just trying to eat healthier - more vegetables less fried food. Yesterday I enjoyed the last, fresh, deep fried, glazed, krispy-kreme donut that was brought for the teachers at one of our schools. It was great (because it was the last one).

Over the weekend I am going to measure myself. I'll post the measurements with my next weigh-in results on Sunday.

Welcome

Welcome to my new blog 10x10 Weight Loss

I hadn't set a new years resolution in several years, so this year had the bright idea to start a diet. Needless to say I failed miserably. It was actually worse than it sounds I didn't even make it through day 2 of what I thought would be a simple diet - eating nothing with bleach processed flour.

A few days after accepting my defeat, I saw a post that a friend had made on Facebook. He was setting a goal to lose 100 pounds by Thanksgiving. Whoa, 100 pounds. When I said that I would try it too, I thought I had just had another one of my great ideas.

BUT, the more I thought about it, the more realistic it became. Thanksgiving is over 10 months away . . . and 100 split 10 ways is 10 per month. I'm not saying that it will be a walk in the park, but ten pounds is a more "down to earth" weight loss goal.

In the next few days I will post pictures, stats and my plan. Hopefully, with the help of this blog I will last the duration of the 10 months.
